In reality, many FRP products, such as FRP gratings, guardrails, ladders, walkways, operating platforms, etc., are widely used in various areas of life. They have bright colors, corrosion resistance, and good anti-aging properties, but they cannot completely prevent fading and aging. Corroded, we can extend the service life of the product by understanding these processes and doing some maintenance.
1. FRP product aging phenomenon
After a certain period of use, FRP materials will undergo some aging phenomena, which are mainly manifested in the following aspects:
1. Surface discoloration of FRP profiles: the surface fades from the original smooth and bright color, becomes lighter, whiter, white turns yellow, etc.
2. The resin layer on the surface of the FRP profile becomes hard and brittle: Due to the influence of the external environment (sunlight, chemical corrosion, high temperature), the resin layer on the surface of the profile becomes hard and brittle, causing cracks or cracks, and the glass fiber is exposed.
3. Decrease in mechanical properties: As the age increases, the mechanical properties such as strength, toughness, and aging resistance of FRP materials will also decrease.
2. Causes of aging of FRP
The aging of FRP materials mainly comes from two aspects: external environmental factors and the quality of the material itself.
1). External environmental factors: Moisture, ultraviolet rays, temperature and other factors in the atmosphere will affect the aging of FRP materials, leading to material performance degradation and thus affecting service life.
2.) Quality issues of the material itself: During the manufacturing process, if the additive content or particle thickness is uneven, the quality of the resin or color paste will also lead to aging and fading problems that may occur during use of the material.

2. Choose high-quality color paste: If you have higher requirements for color, you need to ask the supplier to use high-quality color paste. The price difference between ordinary color paste and high-quality color paste can be as much as 5 times. Some colors of color paste at the same price are easier to produce. Fading requires the use of high-quality colorants to delay fading.

3. Protective measures: Applying a protective layer to FRP products, such as painting, can effectively protect the material from the impact of the external environment and extend the service life of the material.

4. Regular maintenance and upkeep: Regular maintenance and upkeep of FRP products, timely detection of problems and repairs will help extend the service life of the material.

5. Usage restrictions: When using FRP products, you should follow the material characteristics and usage requirements to avoid excessive use, which will help extend the service life.

6. Exposure measures: If fiberglass products need to be exposed to the external environment for a long time, they can be protected by covering.
